The 6th Application Guidelines
Daisetz T. Suzuki and Kitaro Nishida, both graduates of Kanazawa University (formerly known as the Fourth High School), left behind world-class achievements in the realm of philosophy, thought and religion. In tribute to these two great scholars, the Kanazawa University International Award (the “KUI Award”) has been founded to honor scholars or researchers making internationally outstanding achievements in the realm of philosophy, thought and religion. The “KUI Award” aims to facilitate international cooperation and the further advancement of academic research in the world through Kanazawa University as a global academic and research institution. The Kanazawa University International Award Committee (the “KUI Award Committee” or “Committee”) is therefore seeking nominees for the 6th KUI Award as follows.

4. Eligible nominees
International Award:Scholars or researchers who have made internationally distinguished
achievements in the realm of philosophy,thought and religion, regardless of
nationality or age.
Encouragement Award:Mid-career and young researchers,generally under the age of 45 who are
expected to have promising futures in the realm of philosophy, thought, and
religion, regardless of nationality.
5. Nomination period
Wednesday,October 1,2025 – Friday,March 13,2026
6. Schedule for selection and the award ceremony
- Selection of award winner:Early July,2026
- Award ceremony : A tentative date in November,2026
[Note] The awardee should attend the award ceremony and deliver a memorial lecture.
7. Required documents (by recommendation only)
- Requisite documents : Letter of nomination〔include statement of reasons〕(Attached Form 1), personal resume, list of achievements books or papers (up to 5 notable achievements, 4 copies each).
*The letter of nomination[include statement of reasons](Attached Form 1)should be completed by the recommender. - Place of submission : KUI Award Executive Office (by post or e-mail)
8. Selection procedures
- The KUI Award Judging Panel (the “Panel”) shall be established and the finalists shall be decided by consensus of the Panel.
- Based on the selection by the Panel,the KUI Award Committee shall decide the award winner.
